The thing about change is you can’t escape it. Everyday our lives change in some way. It’s inevitable. Change is what makes life an exciting adventure, but it’s also what strikes fear in even the most courageous of us. How you handle change is completely under your control. It’s all about attitude.
That box that you live in . . . the one with the walls that are slowly closing in on you . . . that same box is lined with comforts that make you feel safe. Those comforts can keep you in your box for a long time, forever if you let it happen. All the while those walls can keep getting closer and closer. Stepping out of the box and away from some of those comforts is exactly what makes change scary.
“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”
Henry David Thoreau
Many of us have bravely stepped out of our boxes only to get about 75% of the way to our goals, and jump back into that box for a fix of our familiar comforts. It’s human nature. We like to be comfortable. I’m as guilty as the rest.
The more supported you are in your journey out of your box, the more likely you are not to jump back into it. For many people, coaching offers just the right mix of encouragement, support, motivation and challenge to successfully reach their goals.
Each time you achieve a goal, your confidence increases and your willingness to embrace change improves. In short you get just a little braver.
Are you ready to leave your old box of tricks behind and confidently embrace the future?
“There is no man living that can not do more than he thinks he can.”
~ Henry Ford
